Today’s National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo) prompt is: Write a “concrete” poem – a poem in which the lines and words are organized to take a shape that reflects in some way the theme of the poem.
Hope.
Is like catnip on a rope.
It,
dangling,
swinging,
nearly being.
You,
wanting,
snatching,
almost catching.
But,
It.
Is.
Always.
In.
Someone.
Else’s.
Hands.
I love:
The powerful metaphor.
The dangling/swinging/
snatching is filled with
tangibly felt movement.
The full stops after each single word make the last stanza
final in a powerful way.

Oh wow, I see the ‘swinging’ of the words/lines 😄.
